Long Walk Off A Short Pier

Tap dancing genius and all round luvvie Lionel Blair (who shares a birthday with me)

and everyone's favourite camp comedian Alan Carr (on the left)

have rescued a suicidal man found hanging by his fingertips to the end of Blackpool Pier. According to Lionel, "We got his hand and said, 'Come on, you don't want to die. You can't do that. Listen to us'. He did a double take, but then said, 'No I want to go'. So I got one arm and you [turning to Alan Carr] got the other."

I LOVE this story. What a couple of heroes. Can you imagine two more unlikely people to be rescued by?

What a great tale!
If I ever need rescuing from a high diving attempt off a tall bridge I would hope to be resuced by those two (especially as the tap dancer shares your birthday, and the other seems quite fabulous).

Interesting story!
What show was that clip from? It feels like weekend update on Saturday Night Live. It was funny! But I didn't get some on the jokes...now I know how you guys feel when we post NA humour pieces.

That clip was funny, even though like Allison I didn't get half the quips, it was pretty cool XD

How bizarre and heart-warming. I have to say I'm not a big fan of Alan Carr in general - I find him a little creepy, though he was clearly more courageous than creepy in this case. Either a genuinely surreal tale of good will or a particularly elaborate publicity stunt!

Everyone loves Uncle Lionel Dogga! Bless him. I like Billie too, perhaps not as much as you, but she's a good egg that one.

Fabulous is the word Barb! A truly fabulous way to be rescued!

It was from Friday Night Project Allison, very funny. But like when you post stuff it doesn't really matter if you don't get the references...especially when you look like Alan Carr does!

It's a funny show Mel, no doubt there will be more clips to follow :D

Anna. Well. Elaborate publicity stunt. I'm as cynical as the nexy curmudgeon but really. What a thing to say. Poor Lionel.

Well well well Ben, something of a Mystic Meg are we? Nice little list! Energetic is the only one I would really take issue with - I'm a lazy slug.

I studied numerology for a while. It's quite different to astrology Kees, it doesn't forecast the future. Just your personality in great detail.

Isn't it Will? I love it.

That's really interesting Ben. I was born 12th of the 12th at 12.20 so I'm all about the 12s.
